Safary Wa-Mbaleka, PhD
Generative AI in Adventist Research: Challenges and Opportunities
Currently Research and Evaluation Manager at the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist, Silver Spring, Maryland, USA. Previously served as professor of education and research at the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS), Philippines, and Adventist University of Africa, Kenya. Known for his passion for qualitative research and mentoring novice researchers. Prolific author of scholarly books and articles.
Prema Gaikwad, PhD
Professor of curriculum and instruction at the Education Department of AIIAS Graduate School. Completed doctoral studies at Andrews University, Michigan. Has been a teacher for 50 years — starting as a math and physics teacher, then as an education professor at Spicer University, India, and AIIAS. Areas of interest include teaching processes, qualitative research, integration of faith and learning, reading instruction, inclusive instruction, and online instruction. Has presented at numerous international conferences, published in peer-reviewed journals, contributed book chapters on qualitative research, and co-edited the recently published IFL handbook (two volumes).
Gracel Ann Salangsang-Saban, PhD
Served Adventist University of the Philippines as vice president for academics from 2022–2026; now focused on full-time teaching, researching, publishing, and training design. Holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English education and a PhD in Education with a major in curriculum and minor in educational administration. An educator of 24 years, she is passionate about the identity and mission of Adventist education. Research interests include qualitative research designs, language pedagogy, effective teaching, multicultural education, instructional design for flexible learning, and curriculum and instruction.
Annalyn Okan-Bacolod, PhD
Recruitment and Training officer at the Adventist University of the Philippines. Earned her PhD in Business, specializing in Management Information Systems, from AIIAS. A dedicated HR professional and educator with research interests in human resource management, employee development, and organizational effectiveness. Values lifelong learning as a means of service and stewardship.
Alina Gabriela Dumitrescu, PhD
Educational psychologist dedicated to exploring how psychological principles can enhance learning and development. Research spans cognitive and learner development, social and emotional factors in educational experiences, and the interaction between individual differences, cultural influences, and learning outcomes. Earned her PhD in Educational Psychology from Andrews University, USA. Currently affiliated with the National University of Political Sciences and Public Administration, Bucharest, Romania.

Robert Ancuceanu, PhD
Professor at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, teaching Cell and Molecular Biology and Pharmaceutical Botany, currently serving as vice-dean. Holds a PhD in pharmacy, a master’s in biostatistics, and a BSc in law. Has worked across academic, industrial, and regulatory pharmaceutical domains. Former member of the EMA Committee for Human Medicinal Products, the Paediatric Committee, and alternate member of the Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products. Has published over 110 ISI-indexed scientific papers, two single-authored books, and contributed to 13 books as co-author or chapter author.
Simona Gurzu-Prundaru, MD, PhD, Senior Researcher, CEO
Simona Gurzu (Gurzu-Prundaru) is MD (2005), PhD (2008), and Habilitated Doctor (2013). Consultant Gastrointestinal Pathologist and Professor at „George Emil Palade” University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology of Târgu-Mureș, Romania. Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in English (with a branch in Hamburg, Germany — UMCH), Head of the Pathology Department, and CEO of the Clinical Department of Pathology, where she founded the Research Center of Oncopathology and Translational Medicine (CCOMT). Has led 17 projects and participated in 26 grants. Currently coordinating 10 PhD students (4 with international co-tutela) and has overseen 8 completed PhD degrees.

Petr Činčala, PhD, MSW, MDiv.
Associate professor of Missions, director of the Doctor of Intercultural Studies program, and head of the Institute of Church Ministry at Andrews University’s Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary. Also serves as president of the Global Adventist Human Subject Researchers Association. Has published dozens of articles and research reports, edited several books — including A Fresh Look at Denominational Research: Role, Impact, Scope — and is actively involved in the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion, Faith Communities Today, the Great Commission Research Network, and the Adventist Society of Religious Studies. Executive director of the Journal of Applied Christian Leadership and national partner for Natural Church Development in the United States and Czech Republic.
Pavel Zubkov, PhD
Associate director and coordinator of the Doctor of Ministry program at Andrews University, USA. Teaches practical and applied theology research and assists doctorate students in field study and methodology. Comes from a quantitative orientation but has extended his interest to qualitative research. Co-editor of Qualitative Research for Practical Theology and contributor to The Sage Handbook of Qualitative Research and The SAGE Handbook of Qualitative Research Quality. Previously served as president of the Asian Qualitative Research Association in the Philippines.
